Homemade Ketchup

Make your own ketchup that is more flavorful and healthier than what you can buy in the store.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 TBSP oil
  • 1 ¾ cups tomato paste
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper, ground
  • ½ tsp paprika powder
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 TBSP white vinegar
  • 2 TBSP cane sugar

Instructions

  • In a medium sauce pan, heat the oil. Add the onion and sautee until translucent. Add the garlic and cook for 1 min.
  • Add the tomato paste, spices, and water. Mix well and cook for a few minutes until thickened.
  • Add vinegar and sugar to taste.
  • Fill into clean jars. Keep tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.

Notes

  • adjust the amount of sugar and vinegar to your liking
  • instead of sugar, you can use honey, maple syrup, or stevia to make it keto
