White Asparagus
Popular in Germany in the spring, white asparagus has a very delicate flavor and this recipe really enhances its taste

- Vegetable peeler
Ingredients
- 2 pounds white asparagus
- 1 TBSP butter
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
Instructions
- Peel the asparagus with a vegetable peeler.
- In a large pot, bring about 1 quart of water to a boil.
- Add the butter, lemon juice, salt, sugar, and the asparagus.
- Cook the asparagus for 15 mins. The asparagus should feel soft when poked with a knife. If not, cook for another 5 mins.
- Remove the asparagus from the pot and transfer to a separate plate or serving tray.
Notes
- white asparagus is most delicious with melted butter that you add some breadcrumbs to
- serve with boiled and peeled potatoes and ham
